Leanne Kathleen Indigo

A Quiet Shine

Under the daytime sky, stars silently sparkle
hidden behind the sun’s rays,
atmospheric obfuscation—
one spatial object’s shine momentarily hides another’s
yet your shine is never gone—
it’s simply not in the right space

Testimonials

“One of my favorite parts of the workshop was seeing how engaged the students were from beginning to end. The activities were interactive, meaningful, and encouraged every child to participate. Poetry became something exciting and approachable rather than intimidating, and students were genuinely proud to share what they created.”

“What I enjoyed most about working with Leanne was how she made poetry accessible for every child. Despite the wide age range, she adapted the workshop beautifully and kept every student engaged, challenged, and successful at their own level. It was wonderful to see every child leave feeling like they could be a poet, and interested in continuing developing their literacy skills.”

I believe that words bring us closer together, they help us understand one another and become more deeply connected with ourselves, which allows us to make space for others through our own self-acceptance. Words give us a voice, let us explore both our own inner workings and the world around us, they challenge ourselves.

I believe that poetry is connection, it is passion, it is exploration, it is a way to find, hone, and explore your voice and to hear and honor your voice. We write poetry to understand ourselves, to understand each other, and to explore the world around us.

And I believe in magic, in finding magic everywhere, I believe that words and stories are connective, that storytelling is a way in which we can better understand ourselves and each other, that poetry is healing, joyful, and connects us to the world around us.

I hope that through my writings and teachings you can find the magic of connection in words.
